The first decade |
The nursery of the female section was established in the year 2000. For the past ten years a number of players emerged that now form part of the senior squad that plays in the first division of the women’s national league.
There are various age groups for the girls starting from as young as six up to thirteen years old. Compared to the boys’ nursery, the female one is small but both committees work closely together to integrate both of them in training and learning of the game. This is seen as beneficial in the development of the players.
The Malta Football Association (MFA) has founded the U-15 league two years ago with the aim of boosting the development of the young female players through competitive football. For younger players, that are under 12 years, our nursery participates in festivals organised by the MFA.
Training is delivered by the players of the senior team, some of whom even made it to the national team, who use their experience to instruct the younger girls.
Like all others, the aim of our nursery is to continue providing the right training to the young girls in order to lead them to become regular players in the national league and potentially in the national team, as it has done through the past decade.
